showing up for work wearing last night’s mascara and hand stamp

Louisville metro has a little over a million and a quarter people, but you can’t take a step in this town without bumping into somebody you know. Ann and I met for dinner at Dittos where she ran into half of her 7th grade class, and then later that night at Sully’s (Kari won a happy hour—free drinks for her, $2 for friends—I wouldn’t go to 4th St Live of my own volition) we saw Josh who was there with his co-workers for an admissions conference. Stephanie—an old friend of Karina’s and the ex-girlfriend from high school of a friend of mine and Josh’s—rounded out the reunion. Playing the game of the common thread is one of the favorite pasttimes of Louisvillains, and part of the delight in the game is that that thread never takes long to find.
