Last night Chelsea and I went to Eno Vino, split a bottle of wine, and spent WAY too much money on food. To be fair, the waitress warned us about the teeny tiny portion sizes, but she made it seem like a good thing (“tapas,” “order a few and share,” etc.) and we weren’t entirely prepared for the artfully arranged microscopic entrees we were served. So yes, Chelsea and I spent $15 on two crab cakes that were each about the size of longish ping pong balls. We also got this phyllo-wrapped salmon with cilantro-pesto in a spinach salad with strawberries and fennel covered with a lime vinaigrette. It was the kind of dish where there are so many complex flavors and unusual combinations of tastes, that all my sensory efforts were focused on the food, and I kind of forgot my own name every time I took a bite. That, and we were well into the bottle of wine by the time we started working on the salmon thing. The last thing we ordered was this AMAZING chocolate sampler plate. Teeny little chocolate cakes, chocolate truffles, and a little espresso pot de chocolate that tasted like the chocolate creme brulee at Bluephies. All in all, the food was amazing, and the wine was excellent. And despite the fact that we stumbled back to my apartment vowing never to order anything off their regular menu again, the truth is we probably will.
