Saturday was a busy day. In the morning, I helped set up the CASA booth at Macy’s. Some lovely volunteers of ours offered to sit at the table and sell coupon books for the Macy’s Shop For A Cause event, but I think it was kind of a wash. We made something like $20 the whole weekend… Anyway, after Macy’s, I spent some time at the concurrent CASA booth at the Belknap Fall Festival where we were selling jewelry and business was considerably better. I was right across the street from Twig & Leaf and it was cold as balls. After my shift was done, I stopped briefly for some Qdoba and then Mom and I headed out for Lexington to see Kings of Leon at Rupp.
Mom had received some kind of email alert about how shitty traffic was supposed to be in Lexington because of all the events going on, but in reality we didn’t have any trouble at all. We got there super early and parked strategically close to the arena and the highway, and then bummed around downtown for a couple hours before the concert. Our seats were great and oddly enough, we weren’t surrounded by obnoxious drunk douchebags. Caleb mentioned that they only have 6 shows left, and although they rocked the house, you could tell the boys were tired. Matthew in particular was looking pretty chunky. All the same, it was a great show and even with a beard, Caleb Followill is still hot as hell. I would NOT kick that out of bed.
After the show, I went over to Matt and Travis’s house for a couple rounds of beirut. My game is kind of rusty, but Matt and I managed to eek out a win in the first game, and were down to one cup in the second. Their house rules are flexible, and my experience playing with the beer pong nazis at Carleton served me pretty well. Several hours later, after a Taco Bell run and most of Hellboy 2, I headed home around 5:30am. Some day, in the distant future, I will have a relaxing weekend, and some day in the even distanter future, I will unpack my boxes.
